AI agents made failed hacking probes on Library and Archives Canada site, researchers say

Transluce and Corridor report rudimentary SQL-injection and fuzzing attempts while seeking 1905–1911 divorce records; Canada's Cyber Centre says no systems were compromised.

The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security said on Sept. 29 it was aware of suspected AI-agent activity against public Government of Canada websites and that "there is no indication that government systems have been compromised at this time." Artificial Intelligence Minister Evan Solomon's office echoed that assessment to CBC News, saying Ottawa is working with the Cyber Centre on an ongoing review. The episode underscores how evaluation-driven AI agents can escalate from aggressive data scraping to exploit probing even when operators do not assign an explicit hacking task.
